The reserve that is a passby, by the most of the tour operators on their way to Kibale, Or Semuliki, Or Rwenzori, or Queen Elizabeth National Parks is found on the Albertine West Rift Valley which is a wonder of ‪Uganda‬ that tourist miss a lot, because of its vegetation, isolated plains along Lake Albert, Splendid views of Lake Albert, and the Blue Mountains of the Democratic Republic of Congo.
Before the 1960’s the reserve was full with lots of wildlife, however due to the wars of the years after, soldiers and poachers took advantage to reduce the big number of wild here.
The game reserve which lies on 200 sq km, in 2002 was establish and leased to the private tourism and conservations operator that run the only lodge , Lake Albert Safari Lodge, located very well in a nice place for good views.

Since 2002, conservation efforts have been going on and wildlife has returned to the area again. UWA (Uganda Wildlife Authority) has also and continued to restock some of the wild that used to be here at Kabwoya Game Reserve; Some of the Wild include: HearteBeest, On Many occasions there are various wildlife such as Antelopes, including Uganda kob, Bush Buck, and Duiker. ‪Primates‬ found here include: Black and White colobus Monkeys, Chimpanzee that are found in the forest along the Hoywa and Wambaya rivers and Tributaries that lead them a long the lakeside cliff, Baboon and Hippos below the Lake Albert.
The Activities include: Horseback riding in the savannah vegetation, Nature walks, Excursion to the fishing village of Kyehoro, Bush dinners, Relaxing at the lodge’s pool while reading or enjoying the views, and a visit to the communities projects or the area.
This is a place worthy visiting which on the way from Murchison falls National park, Kibale forest, Semuliki, Rwenzori, Queen ‪Elizabeth‬ National Parks
Prom Kampala you can access by Road too via Hoima Town to the reserve on approximately 260km for five hours.
