Uganda Tourism sector Performance report has indicated continued Tourism increase to the Uganda’s economy has nearly from 2015/2016 financial years contributed to nearly Shillings 7.3b to Gross Domestic Product (GDP) . This has translated to 9 per cent of the country’s GDP. This was an increase from Shillings 6.3b in 2014/2015 financial year.
Visitors that have come mostly for leisure have increased investments to the private sector with the putting up of new hotels attracting to invested heavily on infrastructure to the most attraction sites.
The source adds that, Gorilla tracking safari in Bwindi and Mgahinga National Park brings in the largest amount of money through the sale of the Permits
The minister for Tourism Dr. Ephraim Kamuntu, mentioned that the tourism sector has recorded an upward performance which can do more according to the indicators in the increase. More effort is to domestic tourism to teach local people to know their country through visiting sites of attraction
