The magnificent Murchison falls National park is the largest in Uganda safaris route – covering 3,480 sq km and one of the most spectacular in Africa. At the Murchison Falls, the River Nile plunges through a narrow crevice and over a 40 meters drop. In the Easter sector of the park, before Murchison falls themselves, are the Karuma falls, where the Nile Cascades over a breathtaking 23 km of rapids, creating some of the most exciting white water rafting opportunities in Africa. Cruise upstream to the falls is an unforgettable experience. On the bank prolific wildlife, that includes elephant, lion, giraffe, buffalo, crocodile, countless antelope and birds can be observed during the boat trip to the bottom of the falls, while in the water are hippo schools and crocodile. The Rabongo Forest, to the south, is the home to several families of chimpanzees with tracking opportunities in Budongo Forest.
