_______
singita kwitonda lodge
An exceptional luxury lodge on the edge of Rwanda’s Volcanoes National Park, created for travellers seeking intimate gorilla encounters, extraordinary mountain landscapes and deeply considered African hospitality.
Singita Kwitonda Lodge is one of Rwanda’s most distinctive luxury safari lodges, positioned directly beside Volcanoes National Park in the dramatic Virunga landscape.
Its setting is central to the experience. The lodge shares approximately 1.2 kilometres of boundary with the park, placing guests remarkably close to the high-altitude habitat of Rwanda’s mountain gorillas. The park headquarters, where gorilla treks begin, is less than ten minutes away by road.
For travellers planning a luxury gorilla safari in Rwanda, this proximity allows the lodge to become more than accommodation. It becomes a refined base for exploring the forest, followed by quiet evenings overlooking the volcanoes.

Location
_______
Where Is Singita Kwitonda Lodge?
Singita Kwitonda Lodge is located on the edge of Volcanoes National Park in northern Rwanda, near Kinigi and Musanze. The lodge sits within a landscape dominated by the Virunga volcanoes, high-altitude forests and communities that have developed alongside Rwanda's conservation areas.
The setting provides one of the defining characteristics of the property. Rather than placing guests several hours away from the gorilla trekking area, Kwitonda sits immediately beside the protected landscape.
According to Singita, the lodge occupies 178 acres and shares a 1.2-kilometre border with Volcanoes National Park. Guests can also enjoy views towards Mount Sabyinyo, Mount Gahinga and Mount Muhabura.
The wider destination also offers more than gorilla trekking. Visit Rwanda, the official tourism platform, describes Volcanoes National Park as a protected mountain ecosystem containing bamboo and evergreen forests, grassland, swamp and heath. The park also provides opportunities for golden monkey tracking and hiking.

Rates
_______
Singita Kwitonda Lodge Rates
Because Kwitonda operates within the ultra-luxury safari market, travellers should plan for a significant accommodation budget.
Singita's published 2026 rates list suite accommodation at US$3,630 per adult per night during peak periods and US$2,720 during off-peak periods. The rates include accommodation, meals and beverages, laundry and Wi-Fi. However, gorilla permits, transfers, wellness treatments and certain additional experiences remain separate.
These figures can change, so travellers should confirm current rates directly with Singita or through their authorised safari operator before booking.
Importantly, the Singita Kwitonda Lodge price should not be confused with the cost of a complete Rwanda safari. Flights, transfers, gorilla permits, additional activities and other travel arrangements can significantly affect the final cost.

Conservation & community
_______
Luxury with a deeper connection to place.
Kwitonda's design and guest experience are closely tied to the landscape surrounding Volcanoes National Park. Local materials and craftsmanship are woven throughout the property, while the lodge's conservation spaces help guests understand the importance of protecting Rwanda's mountain gorillas and their habitat.
The Akarabo Nursery and farm-to-table garden add another dimension to the experience. Guests can discover local horticulture, meet craftspeople, learn about food production and participate in experiences designed around the surrounding community.
A conservation-led safari experience
Singita's current sustainability programme aligns its properties with The Long Run's 4C framework: Conservation, Community, Culture and Commerce.
At Kwitonda, that philosophy is expressed through the relationship between the lodge, the forest, local communities, conservation education and responsible tourism.
For luxury travellers, the result is a stay that feels connected to Rwanda rather than simply positioned within it.
